The Secret Life of Meh

A few minutes after I tucked Mr. Meh to bed -- the bottle and all and he seemed on his way to the dreamland (had was tired and fussy and had nicely settled in in the bed with the bottle), I went back in to leave some clothes.

As I opened the door, I saw Mr. Meh sitting in the far corner of the crib smiling at me with a big grin. I don't know what he was doing and why he wasn't settling himself to sleep. If he were older, I'd say that he was up to something sneaky. But at this age, there isn't much sneakiness he can get himself into. I was just funny and unexpected.

I laid him back down, gave me back his bottle, kissed him goodnight and exited. I assumed that after that he drank his milk and drifted into sleep. But who knows.

For a few months now, we've been closing the door when we put him to bed, as all sort of minor sushings started to wake him up, including us just walking in the hallway. So who knows what he does in his bed.

I know in the morning before we get him he babbles for 15-20 minutes. He must be talking to his toys in his crib (at least that's what we think. "And now, you teddy bear, you stay right here and you stuffy friend you come here....."

It's also funny the sleep positions he gets himself into. Most of them don't look comfortable at all -- with his head arched so far back, it's at a 90 degree angle to his back -- to his legs resting again the crib railing....

I wish I could somehow inconspicously set up a camcorder in his room to record what he does.

Of course, now, since he's been able to stand himself up, he's been greeting us standing most of the mornings, with that big sunshine grin.

He is like sunshine. That huge smile with two teeth showing is so disarming.
